It’s a common phrase. But are leaders really naturally born?
I attended an awards ceremony recently, and I noticed that this phrase got used quite a lot.
There is a famous biographical film of Gandhi. As he makes his first speech in the film, nobody pays attention. He had put good thoughts into a well-written speech, but he was hesitant and quiet. Over time, he develops the ability to capture the minds of large crowds through his speeches.
Edison was not born as the renowned business leader and inventor we see of him today. He says himself: “Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety nine percent perspiration.”
Life is an endless series of becoming someone -- being “reborn,” in a way. I firmly believe that as long as your prioritize a skill set, you can acquire it.
